St.Petersburg
were begun.
In 1858
under Geographical society
the Meteorological committee transformed per
1870 into the Meteorological commission has been created.
In 1872
under the Geographical society
the Weather Service was created.

On July, 10, 1930
Lenindrag provincial hydrometeorological bureau was organized.
In May, 1933
Department for Joint Hydrometeorological Service of Leningrad Region
was organized (Leningrad Region in 1930 included territories of
provincias of Leningrad, Pskov, Novgorod, Murmansk and Cherepovets
distrikt).
In March, 1937
according to establishing of Main Administration of
Hydrometeorological Service of Government of the USSR Department was
reorganized into Leningrad Administration of Hydrometeorological
Service with brunches in Murmansk and Petrozavodsk.
In 1956
Leningrad Administration
was renamed into North-West Administration of
Hydrometeorological Service and later on into
North-West Interregional Territorial
Administration of Federal Service for Hydrometeorology and
Environmental Monitoring (North-West AHEM).
In charge of
North-West AHEM are territorial institutions of Federal
Service - Centers for Hydrometeorology and Environmental Monitoring.
